“Andrew Penny were a pleasure to deal with and I would highly recommend them to other architects and residential homeowners.

We worked with AP to deliver a residential house extension and interior reconfiguration in South West London for our client, the renowned journalist and blogger, Emily Murray of the Pink House Living Blog. The project was an 'out of the box' design (true to LOUD's design ethos) whereby the cladding system of mixing stone, brass, steel and fenestration had not been done before and was a UK first.

They went above and beyond to deliver our design on site once they had taken possession. They had exceptional client facing skills and the client was very happy with them throughout the entirety of the project. AP are very good at contract administration and project delivery. We, the architects, were emailed reports of progress, design decisions and any impact on the programme in a neat and clear pdf. The requests for information (RFI) were given in a timely manner to allow the project team and my team (LOUD Architects) to design out any queries. AP made helpful suggestions to the design team, ways to save budget and time which were gratefully received by all involved. AP have good contacts within the building trade and have possibly, one of the best tilers I have ever seen, working for them.

AP also have their own crittall style, metal framed window company, which we would also recommend using.

Thank you to Ollie, Andrew and their team for their dedication and delivering our niche project.”

“We couldn’t be happier with our kitchen - it’s exactly what we wanted. Working with the team was a pleasure throughout. Everything was communicated to us clearly and we were regularly updated about changes to the budget - whether that was extra costs or savings - which we found gave us a lot of confidence in the process. The guys on site were all extremely helpful and talented and we fully intend to use AndrewPenny for further work we do to our house. We couldn’t recommend them more highly.”

“Andrew Penny Construction have carried out various projects renovating ex-industrial spaces on a creative commercial site in Peckham South London for us. They are able to meet time and budget constraints and have a good number of trades available. Always friendly and approachable, they leave the site clean and tidy. I would certainly recommend them.”

“Andrew Penny and his team quite literally saved our restaurant. The contractor that had pitched and won our contract pulled out with three days’ notice (not working days!) which left us in something of a pickle. Andy stepped in, quoted and was on site in less than a week - no mean feat for anyone. Admittedly, we were Andy’s first ‘major’ commercial gig, but the leap of faith it took to trust him in the delivery of our site was worth every penny and continues to be a year later. No build of this nature is ever without it’s complications and this one had a few, but were it not for the likes of Andy, Ollie, Dave and the rest of the gang we wouldn’t we wouldn’t be where we are today.”

“Andrew and his team have just converted a large retail space into a cafe, gym, yoga studios x 2, reception and changing rooms with showers for my business. I’ve been very pleased with the level/quality of their work, attention to detail, and ‘can do’ attitude. The team worked long hours including weekends to get it done on time & on budget. Even after opening they’ve been sending men daily to get the snagging finished which I’ve appreciated.

I’ll definitely be using them again.”

“Andrew, Oliver, and their team at Andrew Penny did an outstanding job completely overhauling our home, from top to bottom. Our  three-floor, four-bedroom Victorian end-of-terrace home was in a state of total disrepair and Andrew Penny came on board for the works.

They did everything: an unusual and complicated side-return extension, which included a 9-meter steel beam supporting the top two floors of our home, as well as excavating a semi-subterranean lower-ground floor. They re-wired, re-plumbed, put in new wood floors, took down walls, opened up doorways, punched through new cavities for windows, installed three new bathrooms, a new kitchen, a changing room with in-built wardrobes, further bespoke joinery, several skylights, a brand new roof, and redecoration throughout.

Andrew and his team were flexible, professional, and personable. We chose Andrew because we liked who he was and what he stood for. His team were all good natured, professional, genuine, hard-working people. We liked them all a lot. We’d happily have a drink with any or all of them.

Of course, some things went wrong, but nothing we couldn’t solve together. For example, we uncovered an old water pipe buried under the proposed foundations. Thames Water shut us down for two months while we waited for permission to continue. This was out of all our control. Andrew remained cool, calm, became our liaison with Thames Water, chivvied them along, and we weathered the wait together without any cost implications. The schedule took a hit, but Andrew and his team worked around the delay and cracked on.

We made changes throughout the build, and Andrew always explained the budget and schedule implications, and we came to mutual agreements and amiable solutions. When we decided on installing a wood-burning stove, say, or a bigger aperture, or a new skylight, we put our heads together and he made it work.

I could go on. And having seen friends’ renovations go badly wrong, we remain grateful we went with our instincts as they proved the right company for us. We’re happy to provide any references as well as show off our wonderful home, which we wouldn’t have without them.”

“Andy and his team created two bedrooms and a bathroom from one barrel vaulted bedroom in our Barbican flat.

We have been delighted with the result.

The work was completed to a high standard and on schedule.

Andy looked after all planning permission and listed building issues.

We would highly recommend him for any similar project.”

“Andy and Ollie have acted as main contractor on a number of commercial projects with us and I've found them both to be earnest, hardworking and straight-forward to communicate with. When issues arise on site they are  proactive in putting forward helpful suggestions and showing a range of different options to the client to allow them to make their own decisions. Pricing is always broken down clearly with a good level of detail.”

Full gut renovation of Victorian 2 bed to 3 bed ground floor flat - Andy and team were great to work with. Very flexible, consultative and delivered a great quality of finish.

Andrew and his team converted our loft, adding a bathroom and extending the floorplan to allow for dormer windows. They also handled the planning application and we are delighted with the new space and the quality of the finish. On the ground floor they knocked through a wall to create a large kitchen and extended the back of the house. There was complicated structural work and a full kitchen fitting, WC and utility. They were with us in total for six months and it was a pleasure to have them around. Courteous, tidy and inventive when presented with a tricky problem. The quote was detailed and well thought out, and the job came in on budget.

I would highly recommend for similar work.
